A fresh, independent, non-fiction publishing imprint

Our mission is to publish stories that talk to everyone and create books that make everyone talk.

Jo Sollis

Jo started her career in media on Woman’s Own magazine in the glamorous cover star days of Joan Collins and Princess Diana. Her passion for stories that connect with people carried her through editing roles with magazines such as Prima, What’s on TV and Hello!, to working on campaigns for the NHS and developing editorial launches for BBC Worldwide and Mirror Group newspapers. She has even been a judge for the British Soap Awards. Her work developing books grew from the fascinating stories she read every day in the national and regional newspapers of Reach Plc, with her Editorship of Mirror Books going on to produce Sunday Times Bestselling stories for them. Mardle Books is now the focus of her efforts to share the very best stories she can find.

Jo lives with her family in East Sussex by the sea (in a little drinking town with a fishing problem). She loves live music, reading (obviously), gardening and walking through the twittens.

Kaz Harrison

Head of Sales and Marketing

Kaz has over 15 years of experience working for independent and corporate publishers, managing brand strategy and overseeing the growth of both debut and established authors across fiction and non-fiction. She spent the first seven years of her career at HarperCollins before moving to Head of Zeus as Digital Sales and Marketing Director. There, she led its innovative and effective digital sales and marketing strategy, and was part of the team that won Independent Publisher of the Year in 2017. She was most recently at Mirror Books. A digital advertising and Amazon specialist, Kaz loves nothing more than creating book campaigns that get everyone talking.

Kaz lives with her family in east London. When she's not reading, she loves cycling down big hills, dress-making and collecting old armchairs for future upholstery projects.

Mel Sambells

Publicity Manager

Mel learned about customer service within the busy offices of Dairy Crest and Little Chef, before joining the media giant Reach plc for 16 years. Originally responsible for all PR within their incredible newspaper photographic archives that date back to 1903, she then moved her considerable publicity skills across to support the Mirror Books imprint. After 5 years and numerous Sunday Times bestsellers, she had found her niche in the wonderful world of authors and their unique stories. The 10-year-old Mel who would bike home from the library with the weekly maximum allocation of books, then mardle with her friends about them, would have been flabbergasted to learn that could be an actual job. Her wonderful communication skills and love of a great story means that telling the world about Mardle Books is her perfect role.

When Mel is not immersed in the worlds of Harry Potter and Julia Donaldson with her son, she can be found searching for her cocker spaniel in the Norfolk countryside.
